Oh dear...this calls for a word with someone at the circulation desk.

I'd have thought 'loan' was pretty basic for a librarian, Sue!
Darlene, nearly all of the older librarians, who'd know what you were talking about, have been made redundant.

I use to picture librarians as one of Pym's 'Excellent Women' ..knowledge, skills, humanity....but have found it lacking in usa for several decades in many states. Thanks for 'lone'...helps to feel like one is not alone noticing these things.
HAPPY NEW YEAR from a new fan, I have checked all your past posts, what a treat. I am also so glad you are still posting for all of us...have best of holidays..know you will!

Thanks, Q. I'm glad you're enjoying it. And happy Christmas to you, too.

It's a wonder they are still called librarians. Hasn't some bright spark renamed them Information curators yet? Our library has more computers than book shelves in it.

Gack! Is it because Christmas is so close at hand that the real librarians are MIA?! Heavy sigh....

It is lamentable isn't it? I have a friend who is just over fifty years old; she speaks and writes beautifully but told me that her English teacher at school couldn't spell. I was rather aghast when I heard that.
