This is not a food blog ....

Although I accept that slightly burned sausages, mash, caramelised onions and lightly steamed asparagus - washed down by half a bottle of supermarket Rioja - possibly don't qualify as one of the great culinary classics ...

I still really enjoyed it.

Somehow this post made me hungry Mary! Oh dear, I think I would love anything cooked by anyone else for a change...maybe not liver & onions though...
Have a lovely evening,

Noelle, even a cup of tea made by somebody else!

Am I the only person who doesn't get excited about asparagus? The rest sounds delicious...and if the weather has been cool and damp then it's even better.

I'm reading this on Sunday and we've just had similar fodder, only replacing your sausages with delicious fresh lamb's liver, and smoked bacon pieces with the caramelized onions, all on top of mash, then delicious thick gravy, plus spinnach for spouse (spinnach is the only veg I do not like but as I get quite sufficient veg, I didn't bother to make something different for myself.) I put the mash on the place, then add the pieces of liver, then the onions and bacon pieces and finally, pour the gravy over, a bit gastro-pubbish! And some rather smooth red to go with it ... delish!!!

Things don't have to be classic, as long as you enjoyed it it was worthwhile.

I can't resist it at this time of year, it seems so spring-like, Darlene. But I'm onto the first local rhubarb this week.

Now I have to think of something for tonight, Toffeeapple ... that can be cooked with a sprained right hand.
